Beatles and John Lennon sites in London

London's Beatles sites are mostly working buildings and street plaques, not statues. The one statue is Lawrence Holofcener's bronze Imagine, Lennon seated on a bench outside Liberty at the top of Carnaby Street, installed on 9 October 2021.

West End and Marylebone

Most sites sit within walking distance of each other. Four blue plaques mark Beatles history: the rooftop concert at 3 Savile Row (30 January 1969), the first HMV shop at 363 Oxford Street, where the Decca audition tape was cut to disc in 1962, the Apple Boutique at 94 Baker Street, and the English Heritage plaque at 34 Montagu Square, the flat Lennon shared with Yoko Ono in 1968.

Several famous rooms carry no Beatles marker at all. The London Palladium and the Prince of Wales Theatre still stage shows but have nothing for 1963. Trident Studios in Soho, where Hey Jude was recorded in 1968, is no longer a studio, and its only plaque honours David Bowie. Marylebone station, used for the opening chase of A Hard Day's Night, is a working station with no film plaque.

St John's Wood

Abbey Road Studios at 3 Abbey Road is still a working studio. The zebra crossing a few steps south-east is a live road crossing. Iain Macmillan photographed the band on it on 8 August 1969, and it was listed in December 2010.

West London

Twickenham Film Studios in St Margarets, where both Beatles feature films were shot and the Get Back rehearsals ran in January 1969, is closed to the public and unmarked.
