The Beatles' Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Beatles' star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is at 7080 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. It's a Recording-category star for the band, dated 25 December 1998. It isn't outside the Capitol Records Building. The four individual Beatles stars are there, on Vine Street, about 1.7 km east in a straight line.

Two places, five stars

The Beatles are on the Walk of Fame five times. The band has one star, and each member has one of his own. All five are in the Recording category, so, as Wikipedia's Walk of Fame article points out, each Beatle is honoured twice in the same category, once alone and once as part of the group.

The group star and the solo stars aren't together, though.

1750 Vine Street is the Capitol Records Building. The group star's OpenStreetMap position on Hollywood Boulevard is about 1.7 km west of that building. If you want to photograph all five, plan on two stops.

The group star's date

The Walk of Fame list and the Paul McCartney Project both give 25 December 1998 for the band's star. We found no report of a ceremony that day, and a Christmas Day date is odd for a public event. So we're giving the date as it's listed and not describing an unveiling.

You may also see 2010 given as the year the Beatles got their star. That's Ringo Starr's solo star. Rolling Stone reported that several hundred fans turned up at the Capitol Records Tower for his ceremony, and that his star went in near George's and John's.

The four solo stars on Vine Street

Lennon's star came first, in September 1988. Harrison's followed in April 2009 and Starr's in February 2010.

McCartney was the last Beatle to get one. His ceremony on 9 February 2012 lasted about 20 minutes. Neil Young inducted him in front of a crowd the Paul McCartney Project put at around 2,000, including Jeff Lynne and Joe Walsh.

How a star gets there

Every star is paid for. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce charges the sponsor of each new honoree a fee. As of 2026 that fee is $85,000. The money pays for making and installing the star, a replica plaque for the honoree, the unveiling ceremony and upkeep of the whole Walk.

Starr also left a peace sign of his own in the area: his Peace and Love sculpture in Beverly Hills is about 6.2 km from the group star.
