Plaques are the most common way a building records a Beatles event, and the United Kingdom has the most of them. Most mark a single day or a short stay rather than a life: a concert, a recording, a shop, a flat.

London's are round blue plaques on working streets. The Savile Row plaque, put up on 5 April 2019, marks the 1969 rooftop concert; English Heritage's Montagu Square plaque marks Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1968 flat and was unveiled by Ono on 23 October 2010.

Outside Britain, concert markers dominate. The oldest dated one is the 1984 WRNO radio plaque at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans, for the band's only Louisiana concert on 16 September 1964. Sydney added one for the stadium concerts in 2021, and Eldorado, Illinois, a George Harrison marker the same year. Puebla in Mexico is an exception: students named a city block after Lennon in 1982, and the current talavera plaque dates from October 2025.
