Monuments here cover everything sculptural that is not a single figure or a bust: group pieces, abstract works, cut-steel silhouettes and stone cairns. Many were paid for by local fan clubs rather than city councils.

The earliest are Czech. A dry-stacked stone cairn on Smrk dates from 1982, and the Česká Skalice memorial from 1986.

A second wave of four-Beatles group monuments followed in the former Soviet Union and its neighbours: Donetsk (2006), Almaty (2007, bronze by Eduard Kazaryan), Ulaanbaatar (2008), Yekaterinburg (2009) and Vinnytsia (2017). The Donetsk figures moved indoors to the city's Philharmonic in 2018.

Peace themes run through the newer works. Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd's knotted-gun Non-Violence has stood at the UN in New York since 1988, and Yoko Ono's Imagine Peace Tower on Viðey island in Reykjavík lights the sky each year from 9 October to 8 December. Steel is the other common material, used for Hamburg's Beatles-Platz silhouettes and Danny West's 2011 Abbey Road street scene in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
