Lennon busts belong to Central and Eastern Europe, and each was made by a sculptor from its own country. They date from a short span, 2010 to 2015, decades after the statue and garden memorials of the West.
Sopron came first. László Szlávics Jr. hammered the head from copper sheet, set it on a limestone column and donated it to the Horváth József music school, where it was unveiled on 2 October 2010. In Zagreb, the bust is by Boris Leiner, a former drummer of the band Azra, and stands in the Rock'n'Roll Theme Park courtyard, unveiled on 15 November 2013.
The Vilnius bust by Jonas Gencevičius is the least conventional: a bronze head with a flower over one eye, based on a Robert Whitaker photograph, unveiled on 21 May 2015. Kielce placed Tomasz Łukaszczyk's bronze in its Aleja Sław, an alley of 20th-century cultural figures, after a 2010 competition.
