Italy named a public space after Lennon earlier than most countries. On 8 December 1985, five years after his death, the council of Castelnuovo Rangone, just south of Modena, opened Parco John Lennon, the first in Italy dedicated to him. A life-size statue joined it in 1998.

The newest Italian tribute came from fans. In Senigallia on the Adriatic, the local association BeatleSenigallia proposed a 2.5 m pyramid by the artist Stefania Ricci, local businesses paid for it, and it was unveiled in the Parco della Pace on 13 July 2019 under the title Immagina la pace.

The band's own Italian story is short: one tour in June 1965. They opened at Milan's Velodromo Vigorelli on 24 June with two shows that did not sell out, about 7,000 people in the afternoon and about 20,000 in the evening. Rome followed with four shows at the Teatro Adriano on Piazza Cavour on 27 and 28 June, with thin Sunday crowds and a full Monday. Both buildings survive. The Vigorelli is a restored cycling track that now hosts American football, and the 1898 Adriano is a 10-screen cinema. Fan-club plaques were reported at both in 2015, but neither has been confirmed on site since.
